A new hub for Nara’s history and artistic culture in Tenri
Nara Prefecture Historical and Artistic Culture Complex opened in Tenri in spring 2022. The facility allows visitors to immerse themselves in the culture that Nara Prefecture is proud of, including history, art, food and farming activities, and traditional crafts. Explore Nara’s culture through exhibitions, events, and hands-on programs. For the first time in Japan, year-round public viewing and explanations provided on restoration works in four areas (Buddhist sculptures, paintings and writings, historical buildings, and discoveries of archaeological artifacts), is open to the public. The facility offers exchanges with art and artists from Japan and abroad, along with programs for children, a museum, a restaurant using Nara's local products, and a direct sales shop for Nara's agricultural produce. The adjacent hotel, Fairfield by Marriott Nara Tenri Yamanobenomichi, is a stylish and comfortable base for exploring Nara’s culture and walking the ancient Yamanobe-no-Michi trail.
